Physical Wellness

Movement

Movement is an essential part of physical wellness. Regular movement supports physical health, mental well-being, energy levels, mobility, and overall quality of life. Whether you are just getting started or looking to stay active, every movement counts.

Movement That Meets You Where You Are

Movement is not all-or-nothing. Any movement is better than no movement. Whether you are highly active, just getting started, managing a chronic illness, recovering from an injury, or using a chair or wheelchair, movement can be adapted to meet your needs.

Getting Started

Weekly Goals:

  • Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate physical activity each week.
  • Include strength training at least 2 days per week.
  • Incorporate flexibility and mobility exercises regularly.
  • Reduce long periods of sitting when possible.

Beginner Goal:

  • Start where you are. Even a 10-15 minute walk each day is a great place to begin.

Movement does not have to mean spending hours in the gym. Walking your dog, dancing in your kitchen, bowling with friends, swimming, gardening, hiking, or playing basketball all count. The best movement is often the kind you actually enjoy and continue doing.
